Good luck, Nana

Nana is staying at Dr. Ozawa's clinic since yesterday. On Tuesday night I saw some blood under her tail, and Wednesday morning I took her to see the doctor. After examining her, he said what I feared: like Flan, she has pyometra and should be operated to remove the womb. This surgery is very common in dogs and cats and it's not complicated. But hamsters are very small. That makes it more difficult.

According to the doctor, without the surgery she will get worse and die. By operating she will at least have a chance. She will be operated today. She's a strong girl, but surgery will stress her and take lots of her strength.

I will call Dr. Ozawa later and ask about her condition. If I can leave work early I will go tonight to see her. If I can't, I will go tomorrow morning.

Update: I called just now to ask about her condition. The nurse who took the phone told me that Nana has been operated already and she's sleeping now, but that she doesn't know much else about here condition. I will go to the clinic later if I can leave work early.

poor nana, by the way, do you think it is airborne?

Javi Lavandeira on Friday, July 21, 2006:

Airborne? What do you mean? Nana is a hamster, not a bat.

Javi Lavandeira on Friday, July 21, 2006:

Oh, you mean pyometra? No, I don't think so. It's an infection of the womb, but it would be better to ask the vet about it.
